Comments on HackQuest

I don't post on wechall often but felt that I should here.
HackQuest was my home for many years. It is where I first started learning about security stuff and I have come a long way largely because of the site and its community - or at least the oldskool community, most of whom have moved on.

I want to thank Kender for all the work he has done on the site. Let me ask you Kender, were you around on HackQuest when there was a rooting challenge called Enter The Warzone? I think Sky's server got struck by lighting or something similar and the challenge went down, which is quite a shame as that was an amazing challenge. There is no real reason I'm asking, just remembering some stuff

Again - A big thank you for keeping the site alive and all your work on it.

I pretty much got started on HackQuest also, and it is still dear to my heart, so I echo sabretooth's sentiments.

Just wanted to let you know hackquest is going to be down for a while.
We are experiencing some technical difficulties.

Hackquest is back. It was crashed by some idiot named bobko trying to bruteforce "The Abduction"

I'm very sorry I did not know a result, it was not done on purpose, hackquest is my favorite page

This website doesn't work anymore?

Yeah. It's down for now. Maybe it'll be restored some day. Maybe not.

Basically one of the two disks in a mirrored raid died and the hoster is unable to restore the array.
The backups are old. Same old story basically.
Perhaps one day the hoster is going to ship the machine back to me for recovery.

I think many people miss HackQuest.

Anyone who does, please add a reply here so Kender gets the karma to bring the machine back and recover the data.

I don't know where HackQuest was hosted, but maybe someone qualified enough and not too far could visit the hoster and attempt a recovery?
I would definitively do so, and i promise i would not loot the solutions ;)
